Threadles: Training & Handling
Saturday, October 19, 9am – 1pm

Many agility handlers struggle with threadles: knocked bars, off-courses, and wasted time. But with consistent handling and foundation training, threadles can be fast and fun! We will learn: what threadles are, how to handle them using the 7 handling elements, and foundation training for a verbal or physical “threadle” cue.

Prerequisites (Agility 4+): Your dog has basic obedience and off-leash control. As a team, you and your dog can sequence at least 5 obstacles at speed and do front crosses, post turns, and rear crosses. Drills can be modified for more advanced students.

Class size: Minimum 3, Maximum 6
Instructor: L. Joy Mercier

Backsides: Training & Handling
Sunday, October 27, 12pm (noon) – 4pm

Many agility handlers struggle with backside jumps, resulting in off-course “front sides”, knocked bars, and stress. But properly trained and handled backsides are no big deal, and can even be helpful in strategy games! In this seminar, we will learn what a “backside” is, how to handle them with the 7 handling elements, and foundation training for an independent backside cue. Drills can be modified for more advanced students.
