1) Tricks+Games 4 Dogs and the people who love them, Part 1

Sunday, March 15, 10am – 1pm

Sunday, April 12, 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Whether you want to impress your friends with some parlor tricks, build a stronger relationship with your dog, or just tire out your energetic pup so you can have some “me time” – this is the place to be! We will use positive reinforcement (luring/prompting, targeting, and free shaping) to teach tricks and games to our dogs. Tricks may include (depending on student preference and class size):

  • It’sYerChoice/Zen Game/Food Refusal
  • Extended sit-stay and down-stay
  • Place/Go to Mat
  • Paw target/High 5
  • Back up
  • Hind-end pivot
  • Sit-Pretty
  • Nose target [or] Chin
  • “Line up” (stand underneath human)
  • Weave (between your legs)
  • Spin
  • Roll over
  • Play dead/Bang

Prerequisites: You love to reward your dog with treats (and toys, if your dog likes toys). Your dog can focus on you when on-leash around calm, leashed dogs. Basic obedience or other group class experience preferred but not required.

Class Size: Minimum 3, Maximum 8

2)Tricks+Games 4 Dogs and the people who love them, Part 2

Sunday, April 26, 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Continued from Part 1, this seminar will cover more tricks+games that you can play with your dog! Tricks may include (depending on student preference, class size, and tricks covered during Part 1):

  • Spider (rear foot targeting)
  • Shoulder target
  • Collar grab
  • “Let’s Dance” (paws on feet)
  • Sit Pretty + grab/hold toy
  • Requests for additional tricks may be emailed to instructor up to 1 week prior to the seminar

Prerequisites: Completion of “Tricks+Games 4 Dogs and the people who <3 them, Part 1” or instructor approval.

Class Size: Minimum 3, Maximum 8

3)Tricks+Games 4 Agility Dogs and Wannabes!

Sunday, April 26, 10am – 1 pm

Tricks are a great way to develop body awareness, core strength, & flexibility. For agility dogs, using tricks in your warm-up routine helps your dog to focus on you right before the run. This seminar focuses on agility dogs, but these tricks are helpful for other dog sports as well as active dogs generally. Tricks may include (depending on student preference and class size):

  • It’sYerChoice/Zen Game/Food Refusal
  • Paw target/High 5
  • Nose touch/woodpecker
  • Back up
  • Rear foot targeting
  • Hind-end pivot
  • Sit-Pretty
  • Doggie squats
  • Kickback and tuck sit (doggie planks)
  • Doggie push ups
  • “Bow your head”
  • Cookie stretches
  • Spin
  • Roll over
  • “Line up” (stand underneath human)
  • Weave (between your legs)
  • Jump in arms
  • Paws up/belly
  • Requests for additional tricks may be emailed to instructor up to 1 week prior to the seminar
